Ruffians will now be showing in partnership with Duchamp and I couldn’t imagine
a better marriage.
Known previously for its accessories Duchamp has managed to turn around their identity
and create a brand incorporating not only the traditional British man, but also
the young, modern, contemporary gentleman.
Being greeted with suits (from Duchamps AW/14 collection) that have vibrancy
that leap at you from across the room, that clash perfectly with patterned
shirts, these not only create a perfect outfit look but you can easily see the
ability to mix and match with a number of their garments, from evening to smart
–casual. Duchamp has it down pat.
The Presentation itself was incredible. Set up at Ruffians Barbers in Covent Garden.
The location was easy to get to and great in that it’s only a 5-minute walk from
the underground.
Drinks were flowing, guests mingling, great knowledgeable barbers were in
attendance to give haircuts, styling tips and most importantly beard advice! (Growing
a beard requires a lot of maintenance and these guys taught me more about my
own beard and how to style it than I knew before! So if you gents need some
extra advice, these are the guys you need to talk to!)
Also in attendance was Gianni Colarossi, Creative Director of Duchamp. I was
lucky enough to chat with him for a while, asking 1001 questions, which not
only helped me understand more about their brand and where they want to transition
to, but also gave me a lot of guidance about my own design path. Gianni is a
perfect gentleman and an incredibly talented man.
For the finale of the presentation, I had a caricature of myself drawn by the
wonderfully creative Milly Jackson.
I for one, Cannot wait to see what the future holds for these dynamic companies
and how they will evolve, amaze and continue to educate gentlemen around the
world! Cannot wait for the next LCM Presentation!
